Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron discussed bilateral relations and regional and global issues in a phone call on Tuesday, Türkiye's Communications Directorate said.
据该局称，埃尔多安在通话中表示，下一任联合国秘书长应具备恢复联合国作为多边主义中心地位并有效实施必要改革所需的远见和经验。
During the phone call, Erdogan said the next UN secretary-general should possess the vision and experience needed to restore the organization as the center of multilateralism and effectively implement necessary reforms, according to the directorate.
现任联合国秘书长安东尼奥·古特雷斯的任期将于2026年12月31日结束。
Current UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres' term ends on Dec. 31, 2026.
声明称，埃尔多安还邀请马克龙出席将在土耳其举行的第31届联合国气候变化大会（COP31）领导人峰会。通讯局补充说，马克龙则祝贺埃尔多安共和国日快乐。
Erdogan also invited Macron to attend the COP31 Leaders' Summit in Türkiye, the statement said. Macron, for his part, congratulated Erdogan on Republic Day, the directorate added.
