Arinci, the chief executive officer of Turkey’s settlement and custody bank Takasbank, resigned after being questioned by prosecutors as part of an investigation into the country’s fund crisis, according to people familiar with the matter.

He was questioned over the weekend by prosecutors and then released, said the people, who asked not to be identified discussing a confidential matter.

Arinci declined to comment. A Takasbank spokesperson said the bank would make a statement through its social media accounts if it considered one necessary, without confirming or denying the CEO’s resignation.

Borsa Istanbul Chief Executive Officer Korkmaz Ergun was detained over the weekend on allegations of accepting bribes and membership in a criminal organization, state-run Anadolu Agency reported. A spokesman for Borsa Istanbul didn’t respond to requests for comment. Ergun is also the deputy chairman of Takasbank.
