As Democrats hammer the GOP on issues related to affordability, Trump opened his remarks with a lengthy report on “the high-quality material” used to renovate the reflecting pool. He described the granite used to resurface the pool, the blue paint at the bottom of the basin, and all the steps taken to tackle “the tremendous algae problems.”Trump thanked Interior Secretary Doug Burgum, the National Park Service and local police for their efforts in the renovation. “This is a massive piece of pool,” Trump said.
