Hong Kong is rewriting its economic playbook amid intensifying geopolitical tensions and the rapid advancement of artificial intelligence (AI), and is pivoting towards commodity trading, fintech and green finance, the city’s leader has said, while pledging to provide stability for investors.
周二，在年度全球金融领袖投资峰会上，行政长官李家超还表示，该市首个五年规划是一份长期路线图，在更广泛的全球动荡中为市场提供确定性。
Addressing the annual Global Financial Leaders’ Investment Summit on Tuesday, Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu also said the city’s first five-year plan was a long-term road map that provided market certainty amid wider global volatility.
本届峰会由香港金融管理局主办，主题为“重思剧本”，吸引了280位商界领袖出席，其中包括120位集团主席和首席执行官。
Organised by the Hong Kong Monetary Authority, this year’s summit, titled “Rethinking the Playbook”, drew 280 business leaders, including 120 group chairpersons and CEOs.
李家超在主题演讲中表示：“地缘政治暗流涌动带来全新的复杂性。区块链和代币化正在重塑金融的核心基础设施，而人工智能正在重塑各行各业、各经济体的生产力、劳动力市场和竞争格局。”
“Geopolitical cross-currents present fresh complexities. Blockchain and tokenisation are rebuilding the core infrastructure of finance, while AI is reshaping productivity, labour markets and competition across every sector, every economy,” Lee said during his keynote speech.
“问题不在于我们是否重新思考剧本，而在于如何以及在何处构建一个新的剧本。”李家超强调了香港作为全球离岸人民币业务枢纽、财富管理中心和稳健股票市场的优势，同时勾勒了该市在新兴领域实现突破的雄心。
“The question is not whether we rethink the playbook, but rather how and where we build a new one.”Lee underscored Hong Kong’s strengths as a global offshore renminbi business hub, wealth management centre and robust stock market, while outlining the city’s ambitions to forge breakthroughs across emerging sectors.
在大宗商品贸易方面，他表示香港正着重发展黄金贸易，并将该市描述为一个新兴且值得信赖的枢纽，使亚洲黄金流向能够符合全球标准。
On commodity trading, he said Hong Kong was placing an emphasis on gold trading and described the city as an emerging and trusted hub that enables Asian gold flows to meet global standards.

He cited the trial launch of the city’s gold central clearing and settlement system in July, in partnership with the Shanghai Gold Exchange, which is due to begin operations in the first quarter next year.

Lee also highlighted Hong Kong’s strength in fintech and green finance, noting that the city was home to 1,400 fintech firms and had built a vibrant ecosystem that arranged US$38 billion in green and sustainable bonds last year, more than any other Asian economy.

The city leader also called for organisations to invest in the Northern Metropolis, a megadevelopment that aims to transform 30,000 hectares (74,132 acres) of land into a major economic engine and an innovation, technology and talent hub.

“While the global financial playbook is being rewritten, one timeless investor imperative endures: the search for certainty, clarity and confidence,” Lee said. “Hong Kong delivers on all three.”He said the city’s inaugural five-year plan unveiled in September set out actionable directions to reinforce Hong Kong’s status as an international financial hub, offering global investors a transparent and steady road map.
他还强调，香港上月主办亚太经合组织（APEC）财长会议，凸显了该市的国际参与度及推动开放贸易、投资和区域合作的承诺。
He also highlighted Hong Kong’s hosting of the Apec Finance Ministers’ Meeting last month, which underlined the city’s international engagement and commitment to advancing open trade, investment and regional cooperation.
今年的全球金融领袖投资峰会吸引了自2022年首届举办以来最多的集团级高管参会，重量级嘉宾包括摩根士丹利董事长泰德·皮克和高盛董事长大卫·所罗门。
This year’s Global Financial Leaders’ Investment Summit drew the highest number of group-level executives since its inaugural edition in 2022, with heavyweights including Morgan Stanley chairman Ted Pick and Goldman Sachs chairman David Solomon.
