Arthur Sinodinos, Australia's former ambassador to the U.S., predicts a 'deluge' of subpoenas if the Democrats succeed in the midterms.

Australia’s former ambassador to the U.S., Arthur Sinodinos, now chair of the United States Studies Centre, returned to Sydney on Tuesday from Washington D.C. In a wide-ranging interview with POLITICO, conducted by phone ahead of the U.S. midterm elections, Sinodinos discussed whether the “blue wave” predicted in the polls will bear out, what calculations a lame-duck U.S. President Donald Trump would need to make and what the various scenarios could mean for Australia. This interview has been edited for length and clarity.
