German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul said Friday that Europe must play “a central role” in negotiations on Ukraine’s future ahead of planned talks between Ukrainian, Russian and US representatives in Abu Dhabi.
瓦德普尔在前往华沙与波罗的海国家理事会成员国外长会晤前发表声明，阐述了他所谓的德国“不可动摇的原则”。
Wadephul outlined what he called an “unshakable principle” for Germany in a statement ahead of a visit to Warsaw to meet his counterparts from the Council of the Baltic Sea States.
“乌克兰的未来不得在没有乌克兰参与的情况下决定。欧洲的安全不得在没有欧洲参与的情况下决定，”他说。
“The future of Ukraine must not be decided without Ukraine. And the security of Europe must not be decided without Europe,” he said.
他补充道：“这是我们为结束俄罗斯侵略战争所作一切努力的标尺，也是欧洲必须在这一进程中发挥核心作用的原因。”
“This is the benchmark for all our efforts to bring an end to Russia’s war of aggression, and the reason why Europe must play a central role in this process,” he added.
基辅、莫斯科和华盛顿的代表定于下周在阿布扎比举行数月来首次三方会谈。
Representatives from Kyiv, Moscow and Washington are scheduled to meet in Abu Dhabi next week for their first trilateral talks in months.
此前一次这种三方会谈形式的谈判于2月在日内瓦举行。在此之前，阿布扎比已举行过两轮会谈。
The last negotiations in this three-party format were held in Geneva in February. Prior to that, there had been two rounds of talks in Abu Dhabi.
瓦德普尔还表示，美国中期选举结果凸显了对乌克兰持续支持的重要性，以实现持久和平解决并确保欧洲安全。
Wadephul added the US midterm election results underscored the importance of sustained support for Ukraine to achieve a lasting peace settlement and ensure Europe’s security.
他补充说：“这就是为什么我们——作为跨大西洋联盟、作为欧洲人和美国人——必须对俄罗斯采取团结坚定的立场。”
"That is why it is essential that we – as a transatlantic alliance, as Europeans and Americans – take a united and firm stand against Russia," he added.
