US tech stocks tumble as Intel, Amazon and Alphabet slide on AI cost fears

US technology stocks fell sharply in early trading on Friday as investors worried about rising artificial intelligence costs. The Nasdaq opened down 2.5% at its lowest level in more than two months. Intel dropped as much as 30%, on track to lose over $130bn in value, after warning of a weak PC market and higher AI equipment spending. Amazon fell up to 6% before recovering to down 1.6% after reporting higher spending and disappointing earnings. Reddit fell 26% and Roblox nearly 20% on weak user figures. Alphabet slipped another 1% after losing over $500bn Thursday on weaker search ad revenue.
