Sachs Group Inc. Chief Executive Officer David Solomon said a technology supercycle will dominate capital markets and financing activity as deal demand remains robust.
Capital markets remain active despite short-term volatility with investors “still focused on the trajectory of AI demand, compute demand and capital markets are open and receiving,” Solomon in an interview with Bloomberg Television at Hong Kong Monetary Authority’s Global Financial Leaders’ Investment Summit in Hong Kong.
The Wall Street giant is riding on a boom of deals related to the artificial intelligence build-out, arranging transactions and financing for companies such as Meta Platforms Inc. and Anthropic PBC.
He said that market participants should not expect growth to proceed in a straight line, adding that “if you look at any technology super cycle it is never constant.”“There will be robust financing to meet the demand,” he said. On the question of whether deal sizes have a ceiling, Solomon argued that the constraint isn’t the availability of capital but rather its cost.
On artificial intelligence governance, Solomon said Goldman has used AI trading platforms for 20 years and argued that accountability must remain with humans.
“The people that make the technology need to take responsibility for what they are doing, and the people that deploy it have to take responsibility for how it is deployed,” he said.
