Kentuckians on Tuesday will elect their U.S. representatives for the next two years. The Bluegrass State’s six congressional districts are currently held by five Republicans and one Democrat. Although a solidly red state, Kentucky Republicans were unable to redraw their maps for this cycle to squeeze out the lone Democrat, Rep. Morgan McGarvey, in the Louisville-based 3rd District because of Democratic Gov. Andy Beshear.

According to election handicappers, the only competitive race this cycle among Kentucky’s House districts will be in the Lexington-based 6th District, which is being vacated by seven-term Rep. Andy Barr, who’s the GOP nominee to succeed longtime Sen. Mitch McConnell (R) this year.

Republicans are trying to keep the seat in their column with nominee Ralph Alvarado, a former state senator and candidate for lieutenant governor who until recently served as the commissioner of Tennessee’s health department. Zach Dembo is the Democratic nominee taking on Alvarado. He’s a Navy veteran and former federal prosecutor. Polls close at 6 p.m. or 7 p.m. EST depending on location within the state.
