President Trump’s support among Hispanics has plummeted since 2024, according to a new poll. Twenty-seven percent of 800 Hispanic respondents to the NBC News/Telemundo survey approved of Trump, while 69 percent disapproved of the president. Nearly 6 in 10 Hispanic voters disapproved of Trump’s handling of border security and almost 7 in 10 disapproved of his handling of both immigration and foreign policy. Roughly three-fourths of respondents, meanwhile, disapproved of the president’s management of the economy and 78 percent disapproved of his handling of the cost of living.

Annual inflation, as measured by the consumer price index, has risen from 3 percent in January 2025 to 3.4 percent last month, according to data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Throughout his 2024 presidential campaign, Trump promised to lower prices, after inflation reached a 40-year high during former President Biden’s second year in office. Trump capitalized on increased support from Hispanics and other minority groups that year, and 46 percent of Hispanics voted for him, based on CNN exit polling of 2,000-plus voters.

But after promising to carry out mass deportations of undocumented migrants and doing so during the first 19-plus months of his term, Trump’s support from Hispanics has declined. Two-thirds of respondents to the NBC News/Telemundo survey said the president’s immigration enforcement tactics have gone too far, while 22 percent said he has struck the right approach and roughly 10 percent said he has not gone far enough. More than 8 in 10 respondents said they support deporting all undocumented migrants who have committed serious crimes, but less than 4 in 10 favored deporting every undocumented migrant in the U.S. “Frankly, it’s the hardest job that I’ve had,” Trump said on Wednesday regarding immigration enforcement.

“They’ll say you’re too tough or you’re too soft. Get tougher, get softer. No matter what you do, it’s always tough.”The rising disapproval of Trump among Hispanics has translated to Democrats holding a 24-point edge over Republicans regarding which party respondents want to see control Congress after the midterm elections. The poll, which NBC News and Telemundo conducted from Sept. 21-28, had a margin of error of 3.5 percentage points.
