The latest polls suggest that’s true: The Marist poll found the incumbent governor leading Democratic state Rep. Gina Hinojosa by 4 points (49% to 45%), while the University of Texas/Texas Politics Project poll showed Abbott ahead by just a point (49% to 48%).
