Interior Minister Laurent Nunez said a shooting outside of Paris on Friday was a “terrorist” act that could have a racist motive.

The suspect opened fire from a car, leaving one person dead and at least four wounded, including a young girl, according to Agence France-Presse. He was arrested by police and anti-terrorism prosecutors have opened an investigation.

“This is clearly a terrorist crime according to the prosecutor,” said Nunez after arriving at the city of Trappes, where the shooting took place. “The motive could be racist.”Trappes’ mayor was quoted saying on television that it was likely an Islamophobic attack.
