Senate candidate Mary Peltola was involved in a car crash Saturday night, forcing the Alaska Democrat’s campaign to delay rallies planned for Sunday and Monday.

“Mary and her family sustained minor injuries but are in good spirits,” campaign manager Cheryl Bruce said in a statement. “Mary is disappointed that the accident is delaying the start of her Alaska Always Tour, and she is eager to get back on the campaign trail.”The car carrying Peltola and her family was hit by another vehicle, according to the statement. A campaign spokesperson didn’t immediately respond to questions about the other driver or any political motivation.

Peltola is taking on incumbent Republican Dan Sullivan for the Alaska Senate seat, which could be one of a handful across the US that will determine control of the chamber. Election Day is Nov. 3 and early voting is already underway. Polls have shown Peltola with a consistent narrow lead over Sullivan.

The campaign will reschedule rallies in Fairbanks and Peltola’s hometown of Bethel. There will be no changes to her events in Homer, Kenai, Seward, Juneau, Anchorage and Palmer.
