The Bank of France will probably have to revise down its 2026 economic-growth forecast after activity unexpectedly shrank in the third quarter, Governor Emmanuel Moulin said.

The current outlook sees expansion of 0.4% this year and a very strong final three months would be required to reach that number.

“Unfortunately, I think it’s a bit too optimistic,” Moulin said at the Jeco conference in Lyon, France. “We’ll certainly have to revise it a little bit, slightly lower.”The Bank of France is due to update its macroeconomic projections in December, after the European Central Bank’s next interest-rate meeting.
