External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar arrived in Ghana on Tuesday on the first leg of his three-nation tour of Africa, aimed at exploring ways to strengthen bilateral ties in trade, investment and infrastructure development. From Ghana, Jaishankar will travel to Cte d'Ivoire and Ethiopia.

The Ministry of External Affairs said the visit reflects India's commitment to deepen its partnership with Africa and will further New Delhi's solidarity with the Global South.

Ghana's Foreign Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa welcomed Jaishankar and described him as a "great friend of Ghana". He said he was "looking forward to our positive engagements and impactful deals."

In Addis Ababa, Jaishankar will chair the Regional Heads of Mission Conference, which is expected to be attended by Indian envoys in the region.
