Critics who spend 10 words decrying Donald Trump’s diesel deal with Russia face a paradox. They likely invested more thought in their critique than Mr. Trump did in his decision. Ukraine is Joe Biden’s war. Therefore high diesel prices are Ukraine’s and/or Joe Biden’s fault. That’s his pitch. Got it?

Mr. Trump, until now, has been a bit cavalier in playing off the investigations to come from a Democratic Congress. He shouldn’t be. Less implausible by the day is his own party turning on him in the last two years of his presidency. His current circus of “improving relations” with Russia by selling out Ukraine is a good way to push it over the edge.
