Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer is launching a post-Election Day war room to guard against efforts by Trump to “steal the election,” vowing Democrats will fight “every step of the way” in a letter to the Democratic Caucus shared first with Semafor.

Senate Democrats will speak with party lawyer Marc Elias this weekend about “Trump’s suppression tactics and the legal response,” while a Democratic election task force will update the caucus throughout Election Day, according to Schumer.

Trump “is directing a government-wide effort to prevent Americans from voting and to challenge any results he doesn’t like,” Schumer wrote. “We cannot just sit back and wait for him to concede. We need a unified team.”Schumer also sounded bullish about Democrats’ election chances in the letter: “It feels like the American people have had enough.”Schumer also shared a post he wrote for Elias’ Democracy Docket website, in which he argues Trump’s “campaign of subversion is well underway” by ticking off the Trump administration’s probe of the Alaska Senate campaign, attacks on mail-in voting, and the administration’s hunt for noncitizen voters.
