Ukraine attacked a sixth Russian crude-processing plant in the past week in a sign that Kyiv’s campaign against the country’s energy facilities is intensifying. The wave of strikes forced a major refinery to halt operations.

Regional emergency services said an unidentified facility in the Afipsky area caught fire after drone debris fell on the site.

The plant, which has a design capacity of about 300,000 barrels a day, is located some 250 kilometers (155 miles) northeast of Moscow and supplies fuel to the Russian capital and surrounding regions, the nation’s largest fuel-consumption area.

The attacks haven’t been publicly confirmed by Ukraine.

The death toll from the bombing may be near 100, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on Thursday.
