"Deeply saddened by the tragic shooting in Krakow," the Swiss Foreign Ministry said in a statement on US social media platform The ministry extended its "heartfelt condolences" to the families of those killed and wished a swift recovery to the injured. "Our thoughts are with the Polish people during this difficult time," it added. The ministry reaffirmed Switzerland's solidarity with Poland in the wake of the incident.

The shooting occurred Saturday afternoon near Krakow's Main Market Square, one of the city's busiest tourist destinations.

Polish authorities confirmed that six people were killed in the shooting, including a British national, while 16 others were injured, including five foreign nationals, two police officers, and the suspect.
