Yemen's government forces claimed Friday to have “neutralized” more than 1,400 Houthi fighters in over 2,750 strikes during the previous 24 hours under Operation Dawn of Yemen.

Brig. Gen. Majed Abdullah al-Nadhib, spokesman for the Yemeni Armed Forces, said on US social media platform X that the strikes targeted Houthi positions across several fronts.

According to al-Nadhib, the targets included fortifications, defensive positions, forward observation and reconnaissance posts, artillery positions, weapons and ammunition depots, supply facilities and military reinforcements. He said the operations also targeted what he described as high-value military assets deep inside Houthi-controlled territory.

Citing preliminary battlefield assessments, the spokesman said that more than 1,400 Houthi fighters have been “neutralized.”He also said that over 250 military vehicles, combat assets and pieces of equipment have been destroyed or damaged.

Al-Nadhib said the operations have weakened the Houthis' ability to maneuver, provide support and sustain combat activities. He further claimed that government ground forces have breached Houthi defensive lines and fortifications, recaptured strategically important positions and consolidated their territorial gains. The spokesman said government forces were continuing their offensive in line with operational plans.

Yemen's Presidential Leadership Council Chairman Rashad al-Alimi announced the launch of Operation Dawn of Yemen on Monday. Al-Alimi said the operation aimed to retake the capital Sanaa, restore state institutions and end Houthi control.

Yemen has been engulfed in conflict since the Houthis seized Sanaa in September 2014, prompting a Saudi-led coalition to intervene in March 2015 in support of the internationally recognized government.
