Hungary plans to bring its budget deficit to below 3% by 2030, Prime Minister Peter Magyar said as he stressed the importance of setting public finances on a sustainable path.
马扎尔在提交首个全年预算案一天后于周二对公共电台表示，他的目标是在2030年将赤字削减至经济产出的2.8%，并在未来三年分别计划实现4.9%、4%和3.4%的赤字。
Speaking a day after presenting his first full-year budget, Magyar told public radio on Tuesday that he aimed to cut the deficit to 2.8% of economic output by 2030, with respective deficits of 4.9%, 4% and 3.4% planned for the next three years.

Magyar was elected on a landslide in April, ousting long-serving strongman premier Viktor Orban. He promised to fight entrenched cronyism, bring the country into the euro zone and reignite growth that had stalled during Orban’s rule.

The sluggish growth under the previous government meant that the country paid Europe’s highest interest rates, he said on Tuesday.

The premier said the budget unveiled on Monday was underpinned by the assumption that growth would hit 2.4% next year from a forecast of 1.7-1.8% this year and that it would accelerate to “well above 3%” by 2030.

The budget received a lukewarm reception from markets. The forint moved largely sideways during Magyar’s speech to parliament on Monday, in which he announced plans to rebalance the fiscal burden away from poorer families toward the wealthy.
